Chantelle Hills is the owner of Fiberific which is based in Australia. She opened in 2012 and spins and hand dyes her own yarn. I found her at random one night while I was on a marathon of watching people dye their own yarn. When I watched her videos she seemed so happy and down to earth, normal like me.. so I subscribed and made sure I clicked the little bell so I’d be alerted when she had a new upload.
The next day I got an alert that she was live on YouTube and I happened to be sitting at my computer. An hour and a half later I’d found a whole new tribe to call my own. I have only missed one week of live shows from Chantelle since. I’ve grown addicted to the community of people there and I’m mentally invested in their projects and their lives. There is always something going on, something to chat about, something to learn and something to laugh about. I look forward to Wednesday nights (In Australia it’s Thursday mornings) and chatting with our tribe.
I was also one of the lucky winners of this stunning hank of yarn she was giving away to those who attended the live show. I blogged about it here. It’s 90% Merino and 10% Silk and it is absolutely wonderful. The squish is amazing and the colors! There’s purple, and four or five different shades of blues. I couldn’t be happier with it and I’m very glad that I was the winner.
I also did an unboxing video, because I am wanted to make certain I caught the moment on camera. You see, this is the first yarn I have ever owned that hasn’t been mass manufactured. Might seem strange to some people but to a person who maths out everything before she buys who also always has a plan for every penny she has… it takes a lot for me to actually splurge on something when I know I can find something comparable else where. This yarn may have just converted me. I haven’t been able to stop looking at the colors since it arrived.
Also, with the yarn she was kind enough to send me some TimTams. It’s been well over a decade since I visited Australia last and have had a real TimTam. So the video might be a wee bit skewed on the ratio of yarn verses TimTam but look, attention had to be paid.
If you’ve never heard of Fiberific or Chantelle I highly recommend checking out her store, her YouTube Channel and her Facebook Group called The Fiberific Fun Zone. I hope to see you as part of the tribe soon!
